Dr. Kevin O'Connor, the vice president's personal physician, reports that Biden has tested positive for COVID-19 once again.

As stated by the doctor in a letter released by the White House, "the President tested positive late Saturday morning, by antigen testing," following a series of negative results on Tuesday evening, Wednesday morning, Thursday morning, and Friday morning.

According to O'Connor, Biden is feeling fine and has no symptoms. Th

e president will "reinitiate strict isolation procedures," even though the doctor has said there is no need to restart Paxlovid treatment at this time.

Over on Twitter, Biden stated: "Everyone, I had another positive COVID test today. Only a tiny percentage of people experience this. Although I don't feel sick, I think it's best to stay home so that nobody gets hurt. I'm still at the office, but I hope to hit the road again soon."

The 79-year-old Biden has received all necessary vaccinations and booster shots. The initial positive test came back on July 21.

He took an antiviral pill called Paxlovid for five days, which has shown to significantly lower the likelihood of hospitalization and death in people with mild or moderate symptoms of COVID-19. However, for some patients taking Paxlovid, the drug causes a "rebound," where they test positive again between two and eight days after their symptoms have subsided and they have tested negative.

The CDC has stated that there have been no reports of severe disease in patients who experienced COVID-19 rebound while taking Paxlovid, and that the limited information currently available from case reports suggests that such patients had mild illness to begin with.
