In a leap towards the future of search technology, Google introduces the Search Generative Experience (SGE), a tool that transforms written commands into captivating images. This innovative feature is currently accessible to participants of Google's Search Labs program.

The utilization of SGE is remarkably straightforward. Users need only type a question into Google's search bar, and, in response, SGE generates a variety of images based on the command.

Google showcased the capabilities of this tool through a GIF, demonstrating its proficiency in generating images from a command as whimsical as "picture of a capybara wearing a chef's hat and cooking breakfast." Users can also filter queries, allowing Google to tailor each photo accordingly.

What sets this feature apart is its ability to create AI-generated images directly from existing images on Google. While exploring Google Image results, users encounter a prompt requesting the creation of an image based on a specific query. Subsequently, the generated image appears in the sidebar.

The SGE feature bears similarities to Microsoft's Bing Image Creator, leveraging the Dall-E 3 OpenAI model to craft images from textual commands. Launched in March, Bing Image Creator has gained popularity among users eager to create unique images.

Hema Budaraju from Google emphasized the company's commitment to responsible image creation in a blog post. "The tool should not be capable of generating images that violate the company's policies on the prohibition of generative AI misuse," stated Budaraju.

Every image produced with SGE receives embedded metadata labels and watermarks, clearly indicating its AI-generated origin.

During the initial stages, Google places restrictions on the creation of images depicting photorealistic faces or any instructions involving famous individuals. Furthermore, the tool is limited to users aged 18 and above, ensuring responsible usage and compliance with age restrictions.

Google takes it a step further by incorporating the ability to generate written drafts directly from the search bar using SGE. Through queries, Google can create drafts, offering users the option to fashion content of varying lengths or tones. If satisfied with the outcome, users can export the draft to Google Docs or Gmail, enhancing the versatility of this powerful AI-driven tool.
