Denpasar, Bali Zhu Xinglong, the Chinese consul general in Denpasar, expressed optimism that President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) visit to China on July 25–26, 2022, will open the door for further South–South collaboration.

Chinese Consulate General in Denpasar, Bali, issued an interview transcript with Xinglong on Monday, in which Xinglong stated that Jokowi will be the first head of state to visit China and meet President Xi Jinping following the 2022 Winter Olympics, which would be held in Beijing in February.

This visit demonstrates the importance of China-Indonesia ties, he said.

He hoped that other developing nations, especially in Asia, would take note of the successful partnership between Indonesia and China.

"It is our sincere desire that this partnership between two developing nations would serve as a model for other nations in the region. To top it all off, (it) will set the standard for (enhanced) South-South cooperation "And he went on to say.

He noted that under Xi Jinping's leadership, China's ties to Indonesia's Jokowi have flourished, especially in the context of China's Belt and Road Initiative.

Belt and Road (Initiative) has contributed to regional and global prosperity and stability through its role in the joint development cooperation between the two nations, he said.

He also mentioned that the high-speed railway project between Jakarta and Bandung was made possible thanks to a collaboration formed as part of the program.

"At this time, 13 of the 22 planned tunnels have been finished for the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway project, and the civil work on the project as a whole is 91% complete. Two Countries and Twin Parks, as well as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Corridor, are two more major projects that have contributed to the growth and prosperity of the two nations' economies "According to what he had to say.

Meanwhile, he pointed out, trade between the two countries had increased dramatically.

"When bilateral trade hit $100 billion in 2021, it had never done so before. For the past nine years, Indonesia's main trading partner has been China, and for the past six years, China has been Indonesia's top export destination. Furthermore, China is one of Indonesia's most important investors "In other words, he said.

Since this is the case, he stated his hope that the upcoming meeting between Jokowi and Xi will further cement the already solid ties between the two countries.

We expect President Jokowi's visit to further strengthen the two countries' "feeling of strategic mutual respect and pragmatic collaboration," he said.

China is the first stop on Jokowi's three-nation trip to East Asia, which also includes stops in Japan and South Korea.
